How we choose our charitiesWe use four criteria:Wow factor. Every charity must be so engaging that we can't wait to tell a friend about it. Sometimes the “wow” is so basic that it's easy to envision how it would change lives. Like the charity that gives pencils to kids - developed after the founder witnessed one pencil being shared by dozens of school children. Sometimes the “wow” is because the idea is so innovative, like imagine1day that plants fruit trees to sustain the school it builds financially. Focus. Each charity delivers one service extremely well. We look for charities that have clear missions and have built connections in their host countries. Good value for the money. Hattrick charities give great bang for the money you donate. Sleeping Children Around the World delivers a mattress, bedding, a towel, mosquito netting, clothes and school supplies to a child for only $35. Low administrative costs. We find charities that pass on as much of your donation as possible. We look at their track record and talk to the people who manage them. For example, imagine1day is the only charity partnering with the Ethiopian government to build schools in rural areas. Every school is built using local labor and designed to become a center for the community. Since Imagine One Day's administrative costs are provided through a foundation, 100% of your donation goes to building classrooms. | ||||
